A Serious Project... and a Whole lot of Goofiness!

The kids and I are working on a new project... I refuse to be involved in the awesomeness of Pinerest because I know that I would be an instant addict.  It is like I always use to tell my Bible study girls -- if you struggled with drinking and you knew that there were 5 bars on the way home... the wise choice would be to drive down streets that would take you as far away from temptation as possible.  Don't ever assume you are strong... be aware of your weaknesses.  I know with Pinerest I wouldn't feel guilty that I'm not doing awesomeness... I would be overwhelmed with all the awesomeness I "could" create... it is the artist in me... I know if I see something cool... I usually can replicate it!
So... with that said... I have lovely friends that are always "pinning" things from Pinterest on their facebook page... I happened upon an idea -- and HAD to do it... so we are!
I put the kids to work...
The "project" is for Ethan... and so he is out of his mind excited... and eager to help!

Today we did a bit more painting -- I did all of it because it is red paint and I don't trust my kiddos... especially after I spent 20 minutes yesterday scrubbing paint out of their clothes... should have stripped them naked -- BEFORE we started painting!!!!
(they ended up that way!)
I rewarded them with hot chocolate and cookies for playing in their room today... away from the paint! Red paint all over the living room floor was not my idea of fun!
 Ethan was plain goofy....
His goofy faces crack me up!

I can't believe how old he is looking...

Stay tuned and we will reveal our finished project... very soon!

Memorial Day 2012

We made our way to the Memorial Day parade first thing this morning...
 It was cold and rainy...
 But Eden LOVED it!
She clapped and cheered for the whole thing!
Her favorite part -- the horses!  It was a short parade...
but that was okay because it was chilly and they didn't throw candy!
(we did get 5 pieces of candy and a couple flags... so it was an "okay" event according to Ethan)
We headed home for hot chocolate and warm cookies... some friends came over for some tortilla soup... and then Bethany hung around and we chatted for a few hours...
Ethan loves playing with Bethany's iphone... he is totally addicted to the video games... I just knew he would be -- that is why I usually never allow him to play them! I tried to "help" him a few times... and I found I was getting addicted... so iphones aren't allowed in this house... (that crazy bird one is fun!)
Later this afternoon we drove to the park for a family stroll...
It was a fabulous day for pictures -- so please bare with me!

 I love my family...

The clouds were so dramatic... so were the kids!

We came home really wet and muddy...
 It was a nice day...

Weekend Away #2...

There are certain tastes that are so wonderful you want to keep them in your mouth forever... like the taste of chocolate.  I can never gobble that stuff up.  I like to let it melt slowly in mouth -- savoring every single morsel until it drips away....

This weekend was like that.  Micah and I had another wedding to shoot... this time it was only an hour away... It was another former student who was special to us! I just loved how he introduced us to his friends and family! He would say, "This is Micah and Christa -- they are the photographers, BUT they are also my friends."  He always made a point to say the friend part... I liked that!
The wedding took place at Chico Hills Hot Springs... Matt and Michelle booked us two nights in the hotel and we were able to soak in the hot spring during our breaks... it was NICE!

It felt like vacation... we savored every single moment.
Marshmallow structures...
Sweet Aunt Bethany watched the kiddos for us... again.  Bless her heart!  We are so thankful for her! The kids had a nonstop party -- while we were away!
Craft Time... in Pjs... it was rainy/snowy the whole weekend...
 More marshmallow structures...

I'm thankful Bethany took so many pictures -- so I could feel like I never missed a second.
If you hadn't noticed -- pictures are so important to me!
They built forts... Bethany said they had more energy this weekend and because the weather was so "wet" they had to stay inside... She said as long as she kept them busy -- they stayed out of trouble!
(See... loving your children is natural, but when someone else loves your kiddos... it is an amazing gift!)
Last night they had a special movie night... so they spent the day decorating their movie theater.
They made a sweet, glittered paper chain that they hung up...
I think it will be hanging for awhile...
I like it!
It is very shiny!
 Eden made marshmallow bugs...
 Eden's spider!
(She just came over and assured me, he was a nice spider... a very nice spider!)
 And Ethan's structures...
After our crazy weekend - last weekend... this weekend was a vacation weekend...
(although after 12 hours of taking pictures (yesterday) I was pretty beat!)
We are so thankful to have Bethany in our life -- and the sacrifice she gave to bless us... My kid's lives are richer because of her creativity, care and love... and that is something I want to savor for as long as I can... it "tastes" good!
